I wrote this post last year and thought I’d share it again with you. My daughter and I made them again this week and they are just so good. A super easy, sweet treat you can make for Valentine’s Day. I love Rice Krispie Treats and if you add some chocolate and sprinkles they transform into fancy dessert treats.
I did a similar version last summer for a July 4th party using red and blue sprinkles. For that version, I bought Rice Krispie Treats, cut them into squares and inserted a wooden skewer to make them like pops.
But for this Valentine’s version, my daughter and I made our own Rice Krispie Treats. It was a snow day and we needed something to do but, oh they taste so much better! We also intended them to be pops with the chocolate and sprinkles on the bottom but then they looked so pretty flipped around so we kept them like this.
Here are the super easy steps:
You can buy the treats already made, or make your own Rice Krispie Treats using this recipe. If you make them, I suggest you put them in a much smaller dish than suggested so they’re thicker and a good size for dipping. Whether you buy them or make them, you’ll need to cut them into 1″ squares and set aside.
If you want to make them pops, insert small wooden skewers into each of the squares.
Set up small bowls with your different sprinkles. We kept with the red, pink and white for Valentine’s Day. I especially love the red sprinkles with the milk chocolate.
Next, melt your chocolate either on the stove or in the microwave. We used both white and milk chocolate morsels. When melted, we just dipped one end into the chocolate and then in the sprinkles.
Then we placed them sprinkle-side up on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. If you make them as pops, you place them sprinkle-side down on the wax paper. Place them in the refrigerator to cool.
Then set out and enjoy!
You could always put them in little baggies and give them away to your special valentine!
Or make them for the Superbowl – decorating them with Patriots colors, of course. Easy and yummy. Go Pats!
