Our bedroom is in need of a facelift. It’s a pretty room but it just needs a little updating. Sometimes this is harder than a complete renovation. And I’ve definitely been stalling on starting this project because it is a little tricky. There are some things I love and want to keep and there’s others that need to go. So I decided to help organize my thoughts and ideas, I would make a design idea board – this is where I put what I would like our room to look and feel like. Some people refer to this as a mood board and I think that’s appropriate because it’s not the things in your home that make it pretty and comfortable, its the way it makes you feel. So my mood board shows things that convey the mood or feel I want to achieve for our bedroom. I may not get the exact lamp or artwork that I show but I’m going for a similar feel that I get from these things.
My mood board may change but this is a good start. I’m not sure what style I would call this. I think it’s pretty eclectic. So I guess I’d call this rustic, industrial with a modern touch. I think that covers it?!
My color palette is one of my favorites: coral and a dusty robin’s egg blue with pure white. Then adding in some neutrals. I love gray but I’m going to try and incorporate some browns and tan too. I haven’t decided on a few things like the bedding cover – I would love to do all white but the dog-owner in me says no way. I would also love a tufted headboard but I also love the more rustic wooden ones too. Stay tuned for this redesign and my decisions. I’d love to show you a week to week progress and I’ll definitely be incorporating some fun DIY’s. And, I’m trying not to spend a lot of money – there’s so many beautiful options out there that you don’t need to break the bank. Enjoy!
