Today I’ve joined the One Room Challenge™ as a guest participant and I’m giving our master bedroom a makeover. The One Room Challenge™ is in it’s twelfth season and is a widely anticipated event that happens every April and October. Each season, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space in six weeks. These designers are seriously talented. Then on Thursdays, guest participants join in by sharing their own room transformations during this time. That’s me. The internet and social media are flooded with tons of interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement. I was a guest participant last year and gave our daughter’s closet area a makeover. This time it’s our master bedroom that needs some help.
I’ll be sharing my progress here every Wednesday for the next 6 weeks. It’s fun, challenging and goes really quickly! But I have to confess, I cheated a bit. Before I decided to be a guest participant, I had just painted this room and I made a few DIY storage solutions. See this shelf and this hat rack. But honestly, there’s so much more to do and I’m excited to get this room finished!
Here’s my design inspiration:
And my to-do list:
- DIY headboard
- rethink furniture
- curtains
- linens
- wall art
- rug(s)
- task lighting
- add some plants
- accessories and additional storage
- upgrade our white painter grade doors?
And here’s the before. It’s a nice room, high cathedral ceilings, and its a manageable size. It just needs some updating. I’ll have some fun DIY projects and hopefully some design inspiration.
Check back here each Wednesday for my progress and wish me luck! Then on Thursdays you can see all the guest participants progress here.
I'd love to hear your comments!
