The One Room Challenge™ final reveal is here and I am so excited!
Our bedroom makeover is done and we love it. This past week I made a wood bed frame and it totally completes this room!
I’ll share all the DIY instructions with you this week but it was pretty easy to make and it really hides the mattress and metal bed frame so well. Plus I just love the stained wood color and look. Honestly, I was a little unsure if I could make this bed frame work and if it would even look good. But I’m so glad I took the plunge.
I also made a wood sign and it’s what we see every morning. It’s got that same rustic wood look as the headboard I made so it ties in nicely with the room.
I’ve put this sign in my Etsy shop – click here to purchase and see my other wood sign options.
HERE ARE THE BEFORE PICTURES:
AND MY DESIGN INSPIRATION:
AND A FEW AFTER PICTURES:
I heart gallery walls – and plants!
new bedding, pillows and a DIY wood headboard
mismatched bedside tables that I refinished to go better together.
our new plug-in wall sconces for bedside lighting
my newly arranged dresser with a punch of color.
our now dark gray interior doors with updated the hardware
an added area rug for interest and some new, more airy furniture
a DIY distressed wood shelf (do you see a pattern here?)
and a DIY hat rack from an old shutter
and more artwork.
Thanks so much for following along for the past 7 weeks of my One Room Challenge. This is such a fun series that Calling It Home does twice a year. And I loved being a guest participant. Click on the links below to see my progress from each week. There’s a lot of DIY projects and hopefully a little inspiration. Have a wonderful week!

I love how this room feels both thoughtful and lovely, but it also feels like a real person’s room! Sometimes bedrooms feel very staged and hotel-like, but yours strikes a great balance between being deliberately designed but still very functional for everyday use. Well done on the ORC!

Thanks so much, Kat! I try not to stage my photos too much. I think it’s important to make our homes pretty AND liveable – so glad that came across!!
