I’ve made these embellished Rice Krispie treats for Valentine’s Day in the past and I thought I’d share it again with you today. A super easy, sweet treat that anyone can make, anytime, but the added chocolate and sprinkles makes them perfect for Valentine’s Day.
I did a similar version last summer for a July 4th party using red and blue sprinkles. For that version, I bought Rice Krispie Treats, cut them into squares and inserted a wooden skewer to make them pops.
For this Valentine’s version, my daughter and I made our own Rice Krispie Treats. We also intended them to be pops with the chocolate and sprinkles on the bottom but then they looked so pretty flipped around so we kept them like this.
You can buy the treats already made, or make your own Rice Krispie Treats using this recipe. If you make them, I suggest you put them in a much smaller dish than suggested so they’re thicker and a good size for dipping.
Whether you’re making your own recipe, or using the store-bought treats, you’ll need to cut them into 1″ squares and set aside.
If you want to make them pops, insert small wooden skewers into each of the squares. Either way, the skewers make it easier for dipping.
Set up small bowls with your different sprinkles. We kept with the red, pink and white for Valentine’s Day. I especially love the red sprinkles with the milk chocolate.
Next, melt your chocolate either on the stove (double boiler) or in the microwave. We used both white and milk chocolate morsels. When melted, we just dipped one end into the chocolate and then in the sprinkles.
Then we placed them sprinkle-side up on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. If you make them as pops, you place them sprinkle-side down on the wax paper. Place them in the refrigerator to cool.
Then set out and enjoy!
You could always put them in little baggies and give them away to your special valentine! xoxo
I'd love to hear your comments!
