I’m participating in the One Room Challenge™ as a guest participant again and I’m giving our small half bathroom a much needed makeover. The One Room Challenge™ is in it’s thirteenth season and is a widely anticipated event that happens every April and October. Each season, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space in six weeks. These designers are seriously talented. Then on Thursdays, guest participants join in by sharing their own room transformations during this time. That’s me. The internet and social media are flooded with tons of interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement. I was a guest participant for two years – first with our daughter’s closet area a makeover and the second time, it was our master bedroom that needed some help.
I’ll be sharing my progress here every Wednesday for the next 6 weeks. It’s fun, challenging and goes really quickly! Our small half bathroom is on our first floor and it’s the bathroom most people use if visiting our home. So it needs to be functional and pretty.
This little bathroom also has a closet area where our laundry room lives. A few years ago I opened this space up by removing the doors and gave it a little makeover. Click here to see that post. So I’ll need to make sure this space works with the new bathroom design.
Here are the before pics:
I already started removing the wallpaper!
My little helper.
And here’s my design inspiration:
My to-do list includes the following:
- change the wallpaper – currently a pretty grasscloth, but it just doesn’t work anymore for this space.
- paint the trim
- paint laundry closet area
- rethink laundry area storage
- repaint vanity
- new curtain
- new rug
- better storage for under the sink
- new wall art
- add a backsplash
- incorporate plants
- better storage/accessories
Be sure to follow along each week. You can view all the other talented guest participants here—head on over and show them some love! I’m excited about this project and can’t wait to get started!
