Even if I’m not involved in a wedding, just talking to people about their wedding plans makes me happy. I’m excited that we have two weddings to celebrate in our family this year. Both sweet, great couples!
And wedding invitations make me happy too. They can really set the tone for the celebration before the day even arrives. I love when we get an invitation and I can feel what the day is going to be like. I have designed several wedding invitations and it’s always such a fun, individual journey. Here are a few of my favorite designs I wanted to share with you since wedding season is coming.
This was a beautiful fall wedding for a lovely couple. They wanted something less traditional and with vibrant color. The papers are beautiful and have a subtle metallic finish. The chocolate brown holder was a unique way to hold all the components and when you opened it, the colorful leaf image and poem was unexpected and beautiful.
This wedding was at a beautiful location and for a beautiful couple. The invitation was presented as a booklet bound with 2 silver grommets and a sheer navy ribbon. The “pages” include the details of the day {ceremony, directions, response card}. Very simple but classy and unique.
One of my favorite couples! The seafoam green color was perfect for the day and seaside location. Each page was printed on beautiful white paper stock with words highlighted in the flowing seafoam green font. They were sealed in a textured green holder with a sticker reminding of the special day. And it was a blast!!
Another fall wedding and another amazing couple! Living in New England, we can’t ignore the changing seasons and I found this leaf hole punch. Perfect. I used that on translucent burgundy paper and cut it into strips to use as a “belly band” around the entire invitation. This piece folded out to a long continuous invitation. Love the colors, the script font and the varying leaf images.
Yes, I had to include our wedding invitation. We got married on Cape Cod and even had to take our shoes off for pictures when we got to the reception. The view was beautiful and so was the day – even though it rained for 3 days prior. We were going for a more casual, less traditional feel. I knew I wanted to incorporate the kraft paper and the envelopes were just the place. I had a calligrapher friend do the addressing – so talented! Each page was on a contrasting paper stock: clear vellum, periwinkle rice paper, recycled cream card stock, and beige matte paper. My husband is a scuba diver – but I’m not – so he would always bring me back a shell from each of his dives. So sweet and, although cliché for a beach wedding, using shells was so personal and meaningful for us.
And it’s all in the details. These are some of the extras that go into the wedding day: save-the-date mailing, ceremony program booklet, place cards, menu, notes to guests, guest book label. Don’t forget them – these are the things that pull it all together and make the day even more special and personal.
I hope you enjoyed the wedding invitation designs. Click on the comment bubble below or send me an email with your comments – I’d love to hear them!
